If you’ve lost a tooth, you’ll want to get a dental implant to help retain the shape of your mouth and preserve your ability to properly chew your food.
Dental implants help anchor crowns or dentures, used to replace missing teeth. A small titanium screw is inserted at the site of your missing tooth or teeth. Once the bone and surrounding tissue fuse to the implant, your new tooth or teeth will be permanently anchored to it.
Dental implant surgery is a non-invasive procedure performed with the use of a local anesthetic. The procedure takes approximately 90 minutes. Some people will have a permanent replacement tooth attached to the implant, while others may have to wait until the implant is completely integrated. You will likely experience some swelling and/or tenderness following the procedure, but initial healing should take place within a week.
Unlike traditional dentures, which rest on the gums, implant-supported dentures are attached to permanent implants. They are a great solution for patients with little or no teeth, who want a more stable and comfortable fit than traditional dentures.
The dentures, which allow our patients to smile with confidence, are made from natural-looking acrylic or porcelain teeth attached to an acrylic base that resembles gums.
