Traditional vs. Same-Day Dental Crowns
When you get traditional dental crowns, you typically need to set up a couple of visits. This process involves having impressions of your teeth taken and getting temporary crowns. You come back for the next visit to get the permanent crowns put on the affected teeth. But with CEREC tech, we can create crowns on site instead of sending impressions to a lab.
Our milling machine uses digital tooth impressions to make permanent custom crowns of ceramic for a beautiful look and durable quality. That means we can place them on your teeth without having to give you temporary crowns and bring you in for a second appointment.
What to Expect?
First, we’ll make sure you’re a suitable candidate for this option. If so, we’ll take digital impressions of your teeth to feed the CEREC machine. While waiting for your custom crowns to be produced, we’ll prepare your teeth for them. As soon as they’re ready, we’ll place them on your teeth for instant restoration!
When to Consider Same Day CEREC Crowns?

How Long Do CEREC Crowns Last?
These crowns are created using durable ceramic— but won’t last a lifetime. You can expect yours to last for around a decade or more with good care. Their location in your mouth can affect their longevity. Crowns in the back of your mouth, like molars, are subjected to more wear and tear, potentially leading to a shorter lifespan than front crowns.
How to Maintain Same-Day Crowns
There’s a lot you can do to make sure your CEREC restorations last for many years, including the following:
- Brush and floss every day
- Have routine dental cleanings done
- Wear a mouthguard if you clench your teeth
